George Edward Lopez was born on April 23, 1961, in Mission Hills, LA, California. His parents, Frieda and Anastasio Lopez were both from Mexico. His father left him when he was only two months old, and his mother remarried and moved out to live with her new husband when he was ten.
George was raised by his maternal grandparents.
He went to San Fernando High School and finished in 1979. George didn’t go to university after that.
Lopez spent years performing stand-up comedy in Los Angeles and across the United States before gaining prominence in the city due to his morning radio show on 92.3 FM during the 1990s.
